The HP 50g is Hewlett Packard’s most powerful graphing calculator, with a 75 MHz, 32-bit processor and over 2.5 MB of internal memory. Users have access to 768 KB of flash ROM memory for storing files and applications. The Entry of data can be done using standard algebraic notation, Reverse Polish Notation (RPN), or textbook style using the Equation Writer application.
RPN mode reduces the number of keystrokes required to enter equations by avoiding the need to enter parenthesis. The need to keep track of interim results manually is also minimized. The contrast-adjustable display is 131 x 80 pixels in size, with 9 lines with 22 digits for information entry, plus a menu line.

Multiple modes for graphing in 3-D are also available. An application is included for determining maximum and minimums, slope, intersects, area, and roots. Multiple equations can be graphed simultaneously, and a table of values is generated.
Furthermore the statistics package includes hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and normal, chi-square, F-, and Student’s T distributions, and curve fitting using linear, logarithmic, exponential, and power regression.This is in addition to the tThousands of other functions are included in the on-board library.
User programmable with the following programming languages: user RPL, HP Basic, System RPL, Saturn assembly, and ARM assembly. Comes with limited debugging support, and compilation and decompilation code. When used in conjunction with a computer running the appropriate software, the HP 50g can be programmed in C. All built-in commands and the firmware can be re-programmed by the user using included applications.
In terms of data, to store large amounts of user-generated data files and applications, the HP 50g comes with an SD card slot for adding up to 2 GB of additional memory in FAT16 (fully supported) or FAT32 (partial support) formats. SD cards larger than 1 GB will work, but the amount of free space on the card won’t be displayed correctly. Also other applications included with the purchase of the HP 50g include a Text Editor, Matrix Editor, Equation Writer, and Finance. The calculator is powered by four “AAA” batteries or via the USB port. Moreover the memory is preserved during battery replacement by a button battery (CR2032). To preserve battery life the HP 50g is powered down after 5 minutes of idleness. A USB cable is included for communicating to personal computers. An infrared port is provided for communicating with other HP 50g family calculators. In addition a serial port is also provided. This also comes with a one year limited warranty.
